What do you suspect some might think if someone bought a Maybach, added a genuine Chrysler-style grille, put an aluminum HEMI under the hood with a tough TorqueFlite behind it, added the Imperial hood ornament (spring loaded, of course), and maybe a rear end treatment similar to the '76 era Imperial?  Spiffed up the interior with some American cowhides, real Claro wood?  That square, color/clear steering wheel might look pretty neat in there too!  With electronic transmission controls, the pushbuttons could even be in the driver's side armrest.

Frankly, I hope they don't think of another Imperial model.  The "real" ones were fantastic vehicles, but even as technically advanced as the F-body coupes and the later fwd cars were, with all due respect, things were not the same to me.  They were neat cars, just not specifically my taste.  Of course, at this point in time, the fwd cars are incredible bargains for the caliber of sophistication they have (which hopefully will not have any reliability problems at this stage of their lives, but no worse than other high end vehicles of the time).

I always thought it would be neat to take an F-body Imperial coupe, sneak in an "improved" 360 engine along with some police car sway bars, and have some fun.  Another alternative might be an aluminum B-block with the conversion Shumacher motor mount adapters.  Similar in concept to the guys that used the Cordoba K-frame to put a 440 in a '79 Dodge St. Regis or similar Newport/New Yorker.  It ALL looks stock, but isn't, but is all Chrysler.

Just some thoughts,
W Bell
