This is all true. However, that original style jute padding is still
available from an automotive upholstery supply house (I use Keyston
brothers, a nation wide firm, but it should be available elsewhere). I used
the ACC padding, plus built it up to match the original thickness with the
added stuff which I have large rolls of. I was quite pleased with the fit
and appearance of the result. I confess I did not notice a difference in the
heel pad. I did have to cut additional holes for the floor switch for the
radio, and for the console mounting points, but I sort of expect that sort
of thing - they'd have to stock carpets for all the accessories.
