I have missed most of this topic so if I repeat I apoligize. I had the same problem with the 413 in a 60. Turned out the wire that attaches to the distributor was arcing across the cap. At night I could see it but nothing in the daylight. New cap, rotor, points and all was well. > > From: "Brian Shea" <bshea@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Date: 2004/08/04 Wed AM 08:41:49 EDT > To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: RE: IML: 413 just don't getup'n go no mo > > Change the points first and adjust them properly.Check the fuel filter. You > might have junk in the tank. These are the cheapest ways to go. > > -----Original Message----- > From: mailing-list-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:mailing-list-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of johan C > wildhagen > Sent: Tuesday, August 03, 2004 6:44 PM > To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: IML: 413 just don't getup'n go no mo > > > 1965 413 > > This started suddenly after a short joy ride and noticeably gets a little > worse each test drive although I think its peaked now > > Hard to start, and just cant get up past 40 mph. > getting to 40 is an effort as well. > pressing the accelerator "confidently" up to about 20 mph instantly starts > sputtering and bogs down with random thumping and pops. at idol (park) I get > a slightly rough idol and intermittent thumping out the exhaust. > > pulled each wire at the cap and got rougher idol at each one (no help). > I looked at the cap and each of the rotor points has a matching "spark scar" > that is off center to the same side on each (get that one?) > coil plugs and wires with after mkt electronic ignition about 2 years old. > > Im hoping ignition/timing some how. > my buddy says intake (carb) leak. > I don't want to hear compression because I just bought a new house...... > > Thanx again in advance you all have bailed me out heroically in the past. > > Johan > 65 LeBaron > Washington DC > > > >
