You have a sending unit/gauge system that is working, which puts you one up on many of us! You can recalibrate the sending unit by bending the float arm - this is pretty easy - you remove the sender and adjust the float so that when it is at the top of the tank, the gauge reads full, and when it is at the bottom of the tank, the gauge reads empty. Then you'll have to settle for what it reads in the between state, but usually they are not too far off. It is typical for the gauge to come down slowly too 1/2 full, then drop rapidly as you burn the last 1/2 a tank. In other words, these provide at best an approximate reading of how much gas you have. If it is worth the effort to you, you can probably improve it quite a bit by bending the float arm. The bending is easy, getting at it to bend it is not easy, so you'll have to decide. When full, it reads about ¾ full. When it reads Empty, it is about empty! My mechanic feels it is the sending unit. Are these available, or can they be rebuilt? If so, please tell me where. Thank you for your help. Tony
