IML: Gay Imperial Owners? Of course! At Yahoo.com - see below link

The group has moved to Yahoo. I somehow found it about a month ago, and
signed up. It took about a week, maybe two to get approved and registered.
It does not seem as active as it once was, but it is there. I should put my
own introduction out like I was asked to when registered.

Go to: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/OIC-Rainbows/ to register. I
thought it WAS Papa Tony who finally got back to me and let me know I was
registered.

As far as Dr. Challenger's question about "what does sex preference have to
do with cars?" It doesn't. Sometimes you just want to talk to people who
are like minded in a world that many feel you don't belong in, or should not
be allowed "Special Privileges", like marriage, I guess. Also the ever
popular "Secret Agenda" that we gay folk seem to have, although I must have
been out that day, because I never got that memo. But that is not Imperial
related, so that stops here. The point is like any like minded population,
who gather, and live, and work, and play together, gay men, and lesbians
sometimes want to be able to talk Imperials in our own way. Sometimes
campy, sometimes bitchy, always funny, but mostly, being able to express
ourselves without worrying about offending the more conservative people of
the entire group who may not be as open, or enlightened as others about our
lives, partners, etc... Not a condemnation, just a harsh reality.
Personally, I get along fine with about everyone, and don't give a darn what
people think of me. I dropped that years ago! Like my Mom said "Honey,
it's your life, you 'gotta live it. You can't worry about what your
brothers think, I think, or your friends think. It's what you think, and
feel that matter in your life." She was right. I guess I'm just lucky to
have such a wise Mom, when I was 18, and scared to death. Still am lucky at
43, and not so scared anymore.

Anyway, that's where the OIC-Rainbows has moved to if anyone else is
interested.

Years, ago, one of the Special Interest Groups for this discussion list
was the "OIC Rainbows" list. It was a special "Safe Space" for the gay
couples and singles among us to "let their hair down" and speak of
personal stuff in a frank and open way without worrying that folks were
going to try and shame them for speaking their minds. They all
belonged to the main list as well, as loyal and energetic Imperialists!

What ever happened to that list? There were about fifty households on
that list when I moved onward to my next project, years ago.

The Online Imperial Club, the Town & Country Registry, the
Cadillac/LaSalle Club, the Lincoln Continental Owners Club and other
luxury car clubs have a large proportion of gay couples and singles as
members. Retired straight couples, too... Kids can be a very limiting
factor in the car-collecting/restring hobby. If it's a choice between
diapers and education for treasured youngsters versus a new, baby-blue
pearlescent leather interior for the LeBaron, kids always win, as they
always, ALWAYS should. I've raised six foster kids myself, and that's
part of the reason why my cars never got fully restored. I'd do it
again the same way.

If the "OIC Rainbows" list (clever name, huh?) is defunct, and if
anybody is interested in being members on a revived version, please
contact me privately at papatony@xxxxxxx and we'll see what we can do
about it. I doubt that I'll be hanging around on that list, though.
I'm pretty scattered and overwhelmed right now. It may not SEEM like
it, with all of the stuff I'm posting lately, but my output is about
one tenth of what it used to be. Keeping up with so many Imperialists
lately has been a real tonic for me. I haven't been so moody and
morose, thanks to the zany and friendly antics of so many cool
car-freaks!  :->
