Thanks for the many suggestions for dealing with my oil pan, most of which
were along the lines of welding a patch...
Alas, I'm afraid the pan is actually *rusted*, not a good candidate for
welding. It does not bode well for the condition of the motor, but I'm not
surprised, given the amount of sludge I cleaned from the heads.
Condensation (and consequent sludge buildup) is common, I hear, for motors
that are often run for short durations.
Still, the motor runs strong. It's the leak that's bugging me! 8^)
So I'm looking for a new pan. Spent quite a bit of time looking for one,
but I've not found one yet... Plenty of pans for 318 "LA" blocks, but none
that I can find for the older, "A" block. (The sump is more central on my
pan.)
Does anyone have a part number? An interchangeable part? I'd like to get
new or NOS, but I guess I'll settle for used in good condition...
adTHANKSvance,
Dan
