response to Ron Waters on the topic of SMS Auto Fabrics. Yes, they are very proud of their stuff, but their followthru was bad for me too. I have a 59 Plymouth Sport Fury, and they had the red fabric I wanted. they said they had the exact match for the red vinyl too, but their sample they sent was an obvious clash to the fabric it needed to complement. I sent my complaints, and got a much closer match, but they couldnt match the original graining (called bison grain). So I ended up with a thicker, better color match vinyl with correct grain, supplied by Original Auto Interiors of Michigan (a very nice guy). So in the final analysis, if I had to do it again, I would start with OAI and go to SMS only if I had to. In fact, I think that is what I did...sorry,.this has been a long restoration. for me... -----Original Message----- From: Ron Waters +ADw-Ronbo97+AEA-home.com+AD4- To: L-FORWARDLOOK+AEA-lists.psu.edu +ADw-L-FORWARDLOOK+AEA-lists.psu.edu+AD4- Date: Tuesday, March 02, 1999 5:19 PM Subject: Re: +AFs-FWDLK+AF0- 58 Fury +AD4-Hi all - +AD4- +AD4-My experiences with SMS have been that they have vinyl and fabric that +AD4-nobody else has, but it takes them forever to get around to sending it. I +AD4-waited six months for the vinyl for my 59 Dodge. I also waited about that +AD4-long for the vinyl for my 70 O+AF8AXwBf-mobile, even though they said they had +AD4- it +AD4-in stock.
