A friend had purchased a 58 Edsel in the fall of 57, in the spring of 1961 he drove it to the local junkyard-it had rotted so badly the doors would no longer stay closed. Even back then the ads were touting galvanized panels for increased rust resistance-but then as now there isnt a car built that wont rot away, at least here in the Snow Belt. Nowadays a car may last 10-15 years before the "ashes to ashes dust to dust" rule kicks in, vs the 2-5 year life span of thirty + years ago. Bill
