Finned friends, Undercoating was an dealer-applied option, as far as I know. Seam sealer was applied generously at the factory to cover up less-than-perfect welds. What I have done on my project is to chemically strip all coatings and paint from everywhere under the car I could reach. Then I applied Hammerite spray or brush-on paint using the appropriate colors...black for frame, grey everywhere else (this is a 59 Plymouth). I do not want to use undercoating on my car. I will not be driving it in the snow or (god forbid!) salt. Any dirt, chips, or whatever that occur will be readily apparent with this treatment, and easily repairable....and I will avoid the covering-up-of-problems effect of undercoating. Undercoating reminds me of aluminum/vinyl siding...covers up the problems, but doesn't cure them! How many of you have peeling undercoating on your car floors, with rust showing underneath? -----Original Message----- From: Robert Bishop <bishop@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Tuesday, July 20, 1999 3:46 PM Subject: [FWDLK] 1958 Chryco passenger car parts books >I just talked to Ron McGee at (519)524-5821 and he has NEW 1958 Chryco >passenger car parts books (Canadian edition) "still-in-the-brown-wrapper" for >$40.00 each. > >Robert Bishop >'55 Plymouth > |
