Title: Cooling System Question
This does not relate to a FWDLK car, but I hope that some of you with mechanical expertise could provide some input. I have a friend who has a '97 model vehicle, is out of warranty, and has overheating problems. He found that the cooling fan electrical connector was faulty and has replaced it. And as far as I know he keeps the coolant at the correct level. Also, he had to have the alternator replaced recently. Before it was replaced, it was wreaking all kinds of havoc with the electrical system. The symptom: Around town and on the highway there are no problems. It is after a deceleration from highway speeds (i.e. to go through a town) that the cooling system overheats. Coolant burps out of the expansion bottle. He sits, lets things cool down, adds coolant if necessary, then continues on his way. The closest "proper" dealer is 2 hours away, and of course they don't do this kind of diagnostic work on the weekends. What is going on with this car? Please respond privately. Thank you! Jason. |
