Yes, there was concern at the time. But I think the bottom line was that
Christine put the spotlight on a car that was all but invisible to the
collector car world. 57/58/59 Plymouths shot up in value after the movie. As
hard as it was to witness the bending metal, the cars that were sacrificed
have probably caused many more to be subsequently saved.
