stainless polishing questions, etc.
THANKS! I got the stainless compound from Eastwood a few days
ago and does that make a difference.
It was the step that I was missing and why it was taking so long to get
the finish up. I'm finding that it's a blessing
in disguise being so broke right now because polishing is cheap. I've
also found that only your patience limits the
quality of the finish that can brought out of 40 year old stainless. I'm
real thankful that I have more exterior stainless than that cursed plated pot
metal. By the way..... after a lot of re-doing the paint on the stainless
wheelcovers I finally
have a pretty decent set. The scuffing and priming with self-etching
didn't work too well. But I did have pretty good luck with a spray can type
adhesion enhancer. It was Bulldog by Kleen Strip. It was a weird clear stuff
that was very difficult to get an even smooth coat. But it seems to be gripping
to the stainless. The can says that is is good for flexible, plastics, chrome,
and multi material parts. I guess that time will tell.
