I went to Kanter Auto Products today to pick up some tie rod ends, they were the cheapest and since I can pick them up, I decided to go there. I'm in the office area which has a counter and cash register and room for 4 people to stand. Mr Kanter himself is helping two guys. He looks to be in his 80's and does things a little slow. While I'm waiting, a guy walks in, right past me and leans on the counter, waiting for help. We're both waiting and while Mr Kanter is trying to add up all the guys parts, the person that walked in after me is in a little huff, he walks up right in front of Mr Kanter and rings the service bell. Mr Kanter looks right at him and the guy says, "I'm just doing what the sign says" Mr Kanter says "the sign doesn't say you going to get service any faster" While we're waiting, the guy looks at me and asks if I'm next, I told him I'm in no hurry he can go first. When it's his turn, all he wants is to see a bracket from some spot lights, he doesn't even want to buy the parts. Mr Kanter waits on me and gets my parts. I told Mr Kanter that people shouldn't be so uptight, he tells me, The old saying goes "I wish I had 100 customers like him, unfortunately I have 1000 like him" I just laughed and told him to have a good day. People need to calm down and realize we're dealing with a business that does 99% mail order. Mr Kanter is just trying to keep himself busy in the business that he created. I looked at the time clock and there were at least 25 employees for him. He runs contests for them and special bonuses, 401k plans, etc It looked like he's a good guy to work for.
