I totally agree with both you guys. I wrote that with the assumption
that the guy had limited knowledge of mechanics. Too many people
have painted themselves into a corner when trying to do 'improvements'
on their car, especially with limited mechanical knowledge.

I agree with Mark.  There's nothing wrongf with generators.
I'm
taking the alternator out of my '60 Desoto and putting in the

generator.  Misguided previous owner thought he was "improving"
the
car.  '57 Plymouths and '60 Desotos had GENERATORS.
