[FWDLK] '55 Desoto power steering pump issues

I have a '55 Desoto that has power steering and it appears that someone has
removed pieces that go in the reservoir. I am assuming there is a filter and
something that the filter mounts to. Can anyone help me with this?? What am I
missing? Where can I get these pieces? Why would anyone remove them in the
first place? Thanks,
