While visiting relatives in northern Wisconsin I stumbled onto a '57 Chrysler Windsor 2dr hardtop that is for sale. Seller received the car when he bought the cottage on a lake - it was in the boat barn. I went to see the car and found it to have probably been customized back in the '60s. The front fenders were extended out over the headlights, custom grille created, nosed, decked, shaved door handles, rear fenders extended w/ '59 Caddy tail lights (3) and the rear bumper face bar lowered. Interior and engine compartment are dead stock with addition of an alternator. Car was driven summer of '99 down to the local gas station but the water pump leaked on the way back. Was recently moved outside under a ill-fitting torn old boat tarp. The car has a fair amount of rust but is certainly repairable. I could not open the trunk but interior floors were not too bad. Factory options of radio, heater, torqueflite. Vanilla white with factory salmon/white/black interior. Seller says it ran VERY smoothly and well with just installation of a battery. Car is located in Oconto County, north of Green Bay, WI. This would make a great custom cruiser for someone on a low budget with some sheet metal skills. Asking price is a mere $500. Clear title. Seller is a realtor and not at all interested in or knowledgeable about cars. Jeff Harrill 1-800-236-0199 (Realty office) I took a couple of pics of the car but have not finished the roll of film so if interested you will have to wait for that. I would buy the car myself just for parts at that price but it is over 1500 miles from my home, making it impractical to transport. Wayne |
