Movie cars actually ended up in a junk yard in LA area. A friend saw the real ones and some with elastomeric front ends parked there but owner apparently wouldn't let anyone near them. He was certain they were the props from the movie. Incidently the book and the movie are quite different. I sure hope they don't make a sequel.
