Re: [FWDLK] Torsion bars vs coil springs

If you can find ANY vehicle manufactured between 1957 and 1961 with a better
ride than a Chrysler product, let us all know. Granted, a torsion bar is
not the best answer for heavy loads in trucks and the metallurgy of today
coupled with computer modeling has created better coil spring suspension
systems for most all vehicles, but there was nothing better in its day.
Also, you will note that more and more street rod builders are creating
torsion bar systems for all sorts of applications.

Subject: Torsion bars vs coil springs

I'm just wondering which is better. I don't know of any
large mfgr autos with torsion bars (4x4's excepted).
Even the aftermarket suspension people who claim to use
only the best use coil springs. What's the real scoop
on this?

Thanks,
