George, I havent made it out to the garage yet, but an idea just occured to me. Perhaps the door latch is "locked", by key. Have you tried the key? If you determine the door is not "locked", then you should be able to hook the rod that connects to the outside handle and pull up. If the door is locked by key and you don't have a key, you either have to take out the seats and go thru the doorpanel, and remove the keylock from the door (it is held there by a slide clip).
