I think you still would like to know if the new carb is useable... to
anyone. See if your repairman will take it in as partial trade for
rebuilding your original.
You can't in good faith sell that new carb to someone else and tell them it
works just fine.
Perhaps a second opinion on the new carb is in order.
I prefer to use the original equipment whenever practical. A one barrel carb
can be a finicky thing.
