I had my 1956 Chrysler Windsor sitting in the driveway, and someone pulled over near my house and asked what year my car was. I eagerly replied that is was a 56. They said, "WOW, that is the prettiest 56 Chev we have ever seen!" So, with some frustration, I replied, "I am sorry, sir, this is a Chrysler," Well, to make a long story short, he argued with me for about 15 minutes that it was a Chevy. It wasn't until I showed them the Chrysler name, that they replied, "That is obviously the wrong name!" They then turned and left before I could fight back! I love having car guys look at my car, but I hate it when they think that they know my car better than I have! How about this one. I had my 1955 Dodge entered in the Cavalcade of Customs, It's a very large indoor auto expo, but there were a few original cars in this Convertion Center full of customs, and I was one of those. This young boy came up to me, in the midst of all these triple chrome plated pieces of rolling furniture. I would guess him to be eight or nine years old. He said, "Mister, is this your car".? I said," yes it is.". He said " That is the most beautiful car I have ever seen in my whole life. " Can I have your autograph, on my program? I said sure, and was feeling pretty proud, and enjoying the experience, when the child said, "DID YOU BUY IT NEW?
I was 8 years old in 1955. That, brought me back to earth. I will never forget the experience, it was neat.
