I am not positive I have the year correct, but Sherwood,
please correct me if I am wrong. WPC Meet 1985 Detroit. On this day we
caravaned to the Chrysler Plant, and had our cars on display in the parking
lot, so that Chrysler employees could come out on their lunch time or
break to view our cars and talk with us. I was showing off my 1955 Dodge Custon
Royal Lancer to an older gentleman, who asked most of the usual questions. Did I
restore it myself? How long have I had it? etc. Then he asked me if he
could open the door, and I said sure, Well, he opened the door
and closed the door, opened the door and closed the door. He did this
about six or seven times. Actually it was annoying me a little, until he turned
around and said, You know I am retiring next month, and I really enjoyed
seeing you car. You know , I designed the latch and lock mechanism in that door.
It's great to see it still working ok. I was at a loss for words and really did
not know what to say. He was a very interesting person, and I will remember that
experience as long as I live.
If Sherwood is reading this, Thank You for those
enjoyable WPC Meets over the years.
