Sound like you have a real problem and looks like you could write the manual on trouble shooting. One thing that you may try. Too double check your top dead center pull the left tappet cover and turn the engine over and watch the exhaust and intake rocker arms on #1 cylinder and when both are up and free of pressure on both valves, this will be your compression stroke. Be sure that the distributor rotor is pointing to the #1 post on distributor cap. Add a couple of degrees advance on the distributor to get off of top dead center. This should eliminate any possible timing problem.
My guess is the compression is to low or the timing chain has jumped time.
