Re: [FWDLK] identify a 318?

Hello Terry,
That can be easily identified. If it is a true 1959 Plymouth block it will have the number/letter stamping MP8-1001-rest of serial number. That engine except the Golden Commando 395 (361 cu. in) was the only V8 put in to a Plymouth for '59. You can find the number on the left front face (passenger side) of the block. Hope this helps.
Take Care,
Frank

Subject: [FWDLK] identify a 318?

Hello all, I have found a running 318 out of a basket case 59 Plymouth.
How can I be sure it is a 318? Is there anywhere I can look on the block and find a series of numbers?
Also the guy wants $800.00 for the engine and trans is this a fare price?
The engine has 74,000 miles.
Thanks in advance
Terry C
