I made my blasting cabinet from 3/8" plywood. The beauty of making your own is you can make it any size you want. I made mine 32" wide, 26" deep, the height in back is 20" and the front slopes down to 14". The top cover is removable although you can use hinges. My cover has a hole cut in it to accept a 12" by 16" of plexiglass held down by storm window snaps so the glass can be easily replaced when it becomes cloudy or pitted from the sand. The front panel has 2 - 4" dia holes, one to hold item being blased and other one for handling gun. I am going to attach appropriate gloves to these holes but for now use a pair of old welding gloves. On the right side panel (I'm right handed) I have 2 small holes, 1 for the gun hose and 1 for the air hose. Inside box I have a small 12" flourescent shop lite mounted on one side. Plan on putting another one in to eliminate shadows. I reuse my sand so what I did was cut a hole in bottom of box and took a gallon size Tide detergent bottle, cut out the bottom and attached it upside down to the bottom of box, sort of like an attached funnel. When my sand tank is empty I put it under box and remove cap from Tide bottle and fill my tank. I put a peice of window screen in tank opening to filter out debris. I've got this cabinet setting on a folding stand I made out of 3/4" conduit. You can buy these from Eastwood ($59) or at swap meets, about $30 but you can make your own for about $10 including rubber tips for legs, padding, chain, etc. You just need a conduit bender ($12). Sorry for the length of this but it really works well and might save somebody time in planning how to make one. One other thing, caulk all joints so sand doesn,t get all over.
