Re: [FWDLK] Speedometer fix?

Greg,

My first guess would be excessive force required to turn the cable. A couple
of possible causes:

1. Insufficient lube on the cable.
2. Excessive lube on the cable.
3. Too much drag at the speedometer. Needs lube. Check your shop manual.
4. A kink, pinched area, or too sharp a bend in the cable housing.

When you replaced the cable, did that include the outer housing or the cable
only?

Subject: [FWDLK] Speedometer fix?

I have had to replace the speedometer cable and the
pinion connection at the transmission twice, recently,
on my 1961 Imperial. Does anyone have any ideas what
may be causing this failure?

Thanks for your reply.
