Re: [FWDLK] Re-Building a 230 Cu. In. Flathead

Bob,
I had my 55 Plymouth 6 cylinder rebuilt by an excellent Mopar rebuilder for about $1200.00 in 1996.  (He also does Hemis and other makes and is currently "restoring" a 55 Plymouth 2 door wagon and going to install a Hemi in it.  He has the Studebaker maybe a 55 or so with a fuel injected hemi in it).  I'm located in North West Pennsylvania.

Subject: [FWDLK] Re-Building a 230 Cu. In. Flathead

Hi, folks
Still looking for a car my daughter can drive.  Called a fellow named "Ed" in Flint MI (don't know if he belongs to the list).  He's sellling a '56 Belvedere 4 door.  It's a 6 mated to a powerflight but the engine is out of the car and needs to be rebuilt.  Body is good with sound floor and rockers and a repaint to red and white (not original colors)  Interior is good.  He has been quoted $1500 - 2000 to rebuild the engine.  That sounds like a reasonable range to me.  Any thoughts?  I seem to recall that Dan Morton has his flathead 6 rebuilt.  With a 6 cyl and a powerflite she shouldn't be tempted (or able) to rack up too many speeding tickets!

Regards,
