Actually, ground oatmeal or rice is also a favorite to temporarily patch
small holes.

I once used --what's-it-called??-- suspended egg-whites ("egg sealer"?)
which is a very-old system to seal leaks in a cooling system. I used 2
(large) jar-fulls, & only succeeded in 'toasting' my water pump.
