Did that on my 55. Did you misplace your keys? That's why I had to take out the ignition switch. Looked for my keys all over the house and drove my family insane. A friend got me a new switch from a friend of a friend and did it for me. I tried to take dash off then left it on until he came over. He got the switch out thru the glove box. It took patience and a couple hours. The aggravation was unbearable, as I couldn't drive my baby. Well I got my new keys from him and put on my favourite driving coat. Put my hands in my pockets and there was the keys from when I had put away the car in the fall. Note: Be careful about pulling dash out. I was very careful and guess what. Speedometer does not work properly now. Some say it works perfect but not to me, you see the Speedo works but not the odometer? Good luck and look for the obvious.
