Re: [FWDLK] 56 rust repair question

I wouldn't recommend brazing or epoxying the cups for the body mounts
because they are structural. These need to be welded. With some body
hammers and some time you should be able to make those pieces. You may have
to toss a few before you get it just right but with some patience it can be
done. Use a bag of sand and some body hammers.

Thanks, I have tried the epoxy and put in a whole rear quarter panel, works
very well. I don't think I will try in on the mount holes as they don't
recommend it for anything structural. Its easy to get at so it could be
migged in easily. I hoping somone had an idea on some premade "cups". I
guess alternately I could cut some out of a new wrecked vehicle.

well it is all in a matter of just how far you wont to get into it! Me I
cut mine out and made new parts out of 14 gage sheet metal tack welded them
in place and then brazed them in, it was a lot easier than welding them in
because there was no grinding the welds down.....
Or you can go the shade tree way and make the parts and glue them in with
3m body panel adhesive, good stuff I use it on some patch panel repairs
where I don't wont any warpage
or do nothing.
If you wont any more info give me a jingle.
Just my penny's worth I spent the nickel on chrome :)
