Now that I have brakes, I can drive the car! However... It seems I have a
major leak in the rear seal of my 318. According to my shop manual, the
seal is asbestos rope, cut into to pieces -- upper and lower. The manual
also says, if the upper seal needs replacing, you have to drop the crank.
Yikes!
A bunch of questions:
Is there a modern replacement upper seal that can be rotated into place,
without removing the crank?
If not, is there a way to disconnect and drop the crank, without dropping
the trans?
Can the pan be removed, without dropping any linkage?
adTHANKSvance,
Dan
