Re: [FWDLK] Powerflite rebuild

Curtis,

I don?t know if they are cheaper, but these 2 shops specialize tranny
rebuild kits for older transmissions.

Transmission kits, complete overhaul or external seals only:
                 Northwest Transmission Parts: 800-327-1955
                 Fatsco: 800-524-0485

Subject: [FWDLK] Powerflite rebuild

Hi all

The rear band broke in my 56 Plymouth's Powerflite. Right next to the hook
where the band strut goes. This is a new one on me - never broke a band
before.

Anyway, looks like I'm going to have to tear apart the tranny to get at the
band and I figure I might as well rebuild it while it's out. Kanter has a
rebuild kit for $240 and that doesn't include the bands. The band kit is an
extra $100 plus a $50 deposit per band. For another $35, I can get all the
bushings, too.

Anyone used the Kanter kit? Quality OK? Is there a better or cheaper
source for Powerflite rebuild kits?

Thanks,
Curtis
