[FWDLK] new member in Idaho!

Hi everyone,

I've just joined the list, so I'm writing to introduce myself and (more
importantly) Bertha, my car.

I'm Tony Boatman, and I live in beautiful Boise, Idaho where I'm the
executive director of the Boise Philharmonic, the local symphony
orchestra. I've been a car fanatic all my life, and at the ripe old age
of 59 I finally got off my duff and acquired a classic 50's finned
fantasy: Bertha, my 1957 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer 2-dr HT.

Bertha was "born" on December 17, 1956, and bought new in San Francisco
for the princely sum of $3,100 in January of 1957. She spent her life
in San Francisco and Santa Rosa, California, and during those years
acquired 100,000 miles on her odometer. She came from the factory very
nicely equipped, with a 325 V8 D-500 Hemi, Torqueflite, power windows,
power seats and a (currently non-working) radio. She started out
white-gold-white, but when she was restored she was repainted
white-turquoise-white, which I find to be a very attractive color on
her. She was also reupholstered in turquoise cloth/white vinyl, not
true to the original but very 50's material. She is very complete, and
all she needs to be 100% is the D-500 medallion on her trunk, which
disappeared somewhere along the way.

Her last owner moved her to Tacoma WA and when he was transferred east
to Baltimore, put her up for sale and she came under my custody and is
now my responsibility to treat her like the lady she is. Wish I could
attach a picture, but I see that's not permitted on the list.

I'm the first to admit I know absolutely zilch about fixing up cars (I'm
a musician, not a mechanic), so I have been finding people here who can
help me with Bertha's care and primping. I'm grateful to be a part of
the list, and look forward to doing a lot of reading and learning.

Tony Boatman
Boise, Idaho
