If they are like a '69 Dodge, which they probably are, (same design) they are left (counterclockwise) to loosen, and right (clockwise) to tighten. I rebuilt the front end on a ' 69 superbee, and had no luck unscrewing the upper ball joints, so taking a risk, I pressed them out---then screwed the new ones in. No problem at all, and no damage to the control arm, either. I know you "sticklers" are gonna have a conniption fit, but it worked!
