Just checked the Ross Roy.  It says that the pad came with the undercoating at no additional charge.  So does that mean that you could get the hood pad w/o the undercoating at an additional charge ?  I'll bet that 99.5% of all the 58 Plys sold had undercoating, so it is probably a moot point...

Only those 57 and 58's with factory undercoating had hood pads.

I would use Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive.  And, yes, 57-8 Plys did have a hood pad.
