My best recollection is that the '53 Dodge panel truck I drove in college
(71 or so) had the starter bellows on the floor.

Is that true???  I don't think so.  My 33 plymouth has the starter pedal
above the gas pedal but in '39 Chrysler introduced the push button on the
dash.
Later models of course used keys and buttons but I just can't remember a
50's
plymouth having it on the floor.
