Having attended B-J some 8 times to see the "show" and
visit with friends from around the country, I can tell you that it has become a
"bellwether" for the hobby over the years as Craig and staff have refined
the list of cars going at auction. One time I was even a bidder after
a very fine '57 Windsor 2dr hardtop but I had the sense to stop at my limit
so did no win that auction. There have been periods when there were
more speculators than hobbyists at the event, such as 1989 but that too was a
reflection of what was going on in the hobby at the time. This year I
could not attend but did watch all but two hours of the Speed channel
coverage. In my opinion, for the most part, it was car collectors and
hobbyists, and not speculators who paid this years prices.
