Re: [FWDLK] Pedal Pad Questions

Personally, I do not see any problems here - I would go by Chrysler's parts
catalogues, After all, Chrysler parts catalogues were issued by the same
company that built the cars, in the year they were built. Layson's is
selling reproduced items almost half a century after the cars were built.

Below is a listing of 1958 and 1959 Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler
brake and clutch pedals and pads. (Do not have the 1957 parts book) As
you can tell there are a number of actual metal pedals but fewer pads. And
the pads fit different pedal assemblies. Thus reproductions can be made to
serve a greater variety of cars, even though the factory did not.

Clutch pedal :
1958-59 - 6 - Plymouth, Dodge : 1730 002
1958-59 - V8 - Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto : 1730 001

Clutch pedal pad :
1958 - 6 & V8 - Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto : 1736 650
1959 - 6 & V8 - Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto : 1616 898

Brake pedal & bushing (std trans) :
1958 - no PB - Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto : 1675 232
1958 - with PB - Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto : 1675 232
1959 - no PB - Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto : 1675 232
1959 - with PB - Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto : 1675 249

Brake pedal pad (std trans) :

1959 - with PB - DeSoto FD/FF/Adv, Chrysler Sar/NY/300-E, Imperial : 1738
271
1959 - with PB - early CDN - Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto FD, Chrysler Win/Sar :

1959 - with PB - late CDN - Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto FD, Chrysler Win/Sar :

Brake pedal pad (auto trans) :

1958 - Chrysler Sar/NY/300-D : 1820 005
1958 - Imperial : 1731 244

Subject: [FWDLK] Will Exner Attend Chryslers at Carlisle This Year? (And
Pedal Pad Questions)

Has there been any further confirmation whether Virgil Exner Jr. will (or
will not) be attending Chryslers at Carlisle this year?

Can anyone suggest a source for brake and gas pedal pads for my 58 New
Yorker Wagon? Drawings of the correct pads are in Layson's catalogue as
GG-84 and GG-85, but Layson's does not actually have any. Andy Bernbaum
told me I wouldn't find any anywhere.

According to Layson's, the same pads were used in New Yorkers and Imperials,
while 57-59 Windsors and 59 Dodges shared a different pair of pads.

But, according to the 58 Chrysler Parts List, 1820 005 was the brake pedal
pad shared by New Yorkers and U.S.-built Saratogas, while 1731 244 was
unique to Imperials, and 1736 652 was shared by Plymouths, Dodges, DeSotos,
Chrysler Windsors and Canadian-built Windsors.

As for gas pedals, the 58 Chrysler Parts List says that 1709 092 was used in
all Mopars, even though Layson's, for example, shows a variety of gas pedal
pads.

Anyone know what the "truth" is?
