The 1957-58 Fury 2-door hardtop roofline is the same as the 1957-58
Belvedere and Savoy 2-door hardtops. Only trim variations exist
between
Fury, Belvedere and Savoy. This guy does not know what he is taking
about.

Subject: [FWDLK] 57-8 Fury roofline
Here's a good one for you.
Made mention of a rough maybe-Fury I know of in the eBay auction
trying to
unload my Belvedere. Guy writes, asking "do you know what shape the
top
is
on on this Fury?" ... I write back that I don't really know - I did
confirm the car exists still last summer, but I haven't had a chance
to go
see it since college in like 1997, and at the time I was clueless
what I
was
looking at as far as being that rare or special to pay attention to.
Anyhow, he tells me he's interested in case he wants to change the
Belvedere
over to the Fury roofline. I say to myself, what???
Anyone have any idea what he could mean? I thought that a Fury, at
the
most
basic level, amounts to a trim, interior and engine upgrade on a
Belvedere -
the roof shape, rear glass and even the stainless roof side rib trim
are
the
same, a 57-58 Plymouth 2-door hardtop is a 57-58 Plymouth 2-door
hardtop
in
other words.
The 4dr hardtop roof I can see is a touch different, as of course the
sedan
top is... but I never heard of any Fury-specific sheetmetal changes
before.
And after seeing a pair of pretty sharp real Furys (one of each year)
at
Rhinebeck today, I don't see anything obviously different either -
One thing about eBay, it brings out the nuts, the strange questions,
the
car
guys and everything inbetween. At least so far I haven't gotten any
nasty
notes telling me to scrap it yet - this one, I probably would write
back
and
agree with them on for a change.
Thanks -
Bill K.
