In the interest of clarification, yes, I did discover that a 4" section had
been removed from my original weatherstrip. Whether this happened at the
factory or sometime afterwards, I can't say. Also, I think that the quarter
windows *did* work as expected when they left the factory. Chrysler would
have caught hell if they didn't. What may have happened in a few cases is
that too much caulking was applied between the weatherstrip stainless
support and the roof rail, causing some binding. Some service guy may have
taken the easy way out (in the case of my car) and cut the weatherstrip
instead of removing the assembly and cleaning out the excessive caulk.
