I have a 60 gallon tank unit and really endorse having a large tank also.
The reserve capacity of the reservoir adds a lot of usefulness to the unit.
Still want to pay a lot of attention to air usage and compressor supply
capabilities but the tank will help a lot for short bursts of power from
large usage items.
I also am now a firm believer in vertical tanks. Had a horizontal unit rust
through on the bottom already. The ends are a lot heavier material so the
vertical should last longer.
Drain it often--- I keep meaning to!
I also dislike the dry units but not sure what is the best.

Subject: [FWDLK] air compressor - reply
Hi Bryan,
The most important thing about an air compressor is not the tank size;
rather, it is the CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute ) that the compressor
generates. Certain tools, like cut-off wheels, dual-action sanders,
sandblasters and blast cabinets, just to name a couple, use prodigious
amounts of CFM . Buy the most expensive unit you can afford, it will be a
good long-term investment. And - more than anything - check the CFM
ratings of various units you are considering for purchase.

Subject: [FWDLK] air compressor
Hi all,
This subject applies to Forwardlooks only in that I intend to use this
purchase for a lion's share of the renovation work on my 58 Fireflite.
Here it is: I want to buy an air compressor, and I see they come in 3,
4, and 6 gallon. Will a 3 gallon suffice for most the work we face in
our renovations? I first need it to remove some stubborn bolts, and
eventually will need it to do some painting, and perhaps run some
pneumatic sanding/grinding/cutting tools. Any advice will be
appreciated, but since this is a stretch (re: topic) it would be best if
you reply privately. Thank you!
