Subject: 2006 Barrett-Jackson
I was just reading in The Arizona
Republic that Craig Jackson has an orange '70 Hemi 'Cuda
convertible that he predicts will bring $2 million in Scottsdale next month based on "There
were only 14 made, and 50 people want one." There's also going to be
a 1969 Dodge Daytona NASCAR racecar highlighting his lineup. Of course,
all 1100 collector cars (up from 900 last year) in this auction are NO
RESERVE. He supposedly hand-picked the 1100 cars (including 100
corvettes, one '53 with serial no. 003) from 5,000 entries.
It'll be interesting to see how many other Mopars will be in the show, because
I get real tired of seeing all the General Motors stuff everybody already has.
I used to go to this event every other year or so just to see how the
other half lives. But this year, the auction has been expanded to nine
days (six days of bidding), the auction area has tripled, etc., etc., which
translates to too many people & too much congestion! Now,
thanks to the Speed channel that you've been bad-mouthing, we will get 33 hours
of live coverage of the Barrett-Jackson auction (up from 24) so we can sit in
our LazyBoys & relax with a cold one in the comfort of our own homes!
