In theory RB heads will fit the RB 383, but in reality, they won't work as the cylinder is too small for the valves. The heads on the RB 383 were the same as the B 361while the heads on the B 383 were the same as B 413 in 1959-60. To compare the bores of the four engines : B 361 - 4,13" B 383 - 4.25" RB 383 - 4.03" RB 413 - 4.18" Bill Vancouver, BC ----- Original Message ----- From: Dave Casey To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, January 03, 2006 11:31 PM Subject: Re: [FWDLK] 383 RB Everything but pistons will swap with another RB engine. Oil pan, cam, lifters, timing set, timing cover, heads, and water pump will swap between all big blocks. JC Auto knows all about the EL dashes and how to fix them. I don't know specifically which cars got them, but if there are white wires with special red connectors to your cluster, you've got EL. Will some 413/440 parts fit? How about 361, 400 or 383B parts? I'm looking to keep an eye out for parts as they come on the horizon. Engine was supposedly rebuilt less than 10k ago. Any sources for sheet metal (some old repairs are starting to bubble in the usual places). Also, is the dash "bubble" powered with electroluminescent power packs like the early Chargers? If anyone has any parts for this car, I would appreciate a line. I will know more of what I need once I get my garage cleared out and the car inside. Thanks.
