My generator gave up a few weeks ago on my 58 Plymouth poly 318 and I had it rebuilt (replaced armiture, field coils and brushes). When I put the rebuilt generatot back on the car I also put on a new voltage regulator and polerized the system. Started the car and let it warm up. While the engine was running the Amp light stayed on until I run the engine at a very high RPM, in fact when I drove the car the Amp light stayed on until I was doing 30 MPH and then went out until the transmission shifted then the Amp light came back on and then slowly dimed out when I was going 45 MPH. I then got a second used generator that works and another voltage regulator (rebuilt) polerized the sytem and tried again. This time when I turn on the ignition the oil and Amp lights come on and when I start the car the oil light goes out and the Amp light flickers on and off in a regular paddern. It does not dim and go out but just flickers on and off in a regular paddern. At this point I again put the rebuilt generator back on the car with another new differnent regulator, polerized the sytem and turned on the ignation. Now the oil light is on and the Amp light flashes in a regular paddern. Once I start the engine the oil light goes off and the Amp light continues to flash in a regular paddern and will slowly dim while flashing and goes out once I reach 45 mph. I also but a volt meter on the battery while the engine was running and it has a reading of 13+ volts. Any ideas of what I have done wrong and how to fix the problem??
