Jim,
I thought all
WCFBs had cast iron throttle sections. Maybe 58s are different?
Remove the
throttle section from the carb:
- There
are several rust dissolving chemicals that might help. After all visible
rust is gone, try gently taping on the end of the throttle shaft to jar it
loose.
- Sometimes
the throttle plates stick in the throttle bores from rust.
- Have
you checked if the accelerator pump is frozen? This is common on carbs
that have been sitting a long time. Remove the link rod and see if the throttle
shaft moves.
Anybody
out there in Mopar Land sitting on an unused WCFB Carb, or any other carb: it
might be a good idea to squirt a little oil on the moving parts so the carb
will be useable at some future date.

Subject: [FWDLK] WCFB Part Needed
The throttle
plates/butterflies on my Carter WCFB four barrel just won't free up. We're two
weeks into pentrating oils, heat and various chemicals and they're still stuck.
This is an
aluminum base four barrel, #2660S, used on '58 Dodge and some Desotos. Anybody
have the base off a parts carb or a whole carb they'd want to sell? An
alternate choice is a 1957 model, #2532S.
Thanks,
