This was posted on the Chrysler 300 server some time
back. Probably does not produce concours grade WSW’s, but does
emphasize what lies beneath the black. OSHA inspectors: don’t
look. The operator could sure use gloves, goggles and a respirator mask.
How about "make your
own" wide whitewall using a modern tire? Great 6 minute "how-
to" video at :

I have found that Scotchbrite abrasive plastic pads work well
to scour the oxidized yellow rubber off of my old Remington WSW’s.
I’ve used Westleys and a Meguiars product for old wide WSW’s with
the Scotchbrite. There is no magic potion but elbow grease seems to help.
The old SOS pads helped the appearance of yellowed WSW’s as they had sort
of a blue soap. Blue cancels out yellow in the chromatic spectrum and bluing
agents have been used for years to whiten laundry. Probably would work
well on old yeller tires, also.
While on tires, does anyone have the dimensional and other
specifications for the 8.00 x 15 Goodyear Blue Streaks that came on the ’55
Chrysler 300’s—or a preserved original that you could
measure? I’m trying to see how those dimensions compare to the only
new 8.00 x 15’s I have found available—General Dual 90’s from
Lucas Automotive and a Coker Classic tire—both with 3” WSW’s.
