the only thing wrong with that picture is the color of the engine, and yes,
they look the same from the 56 277 right up to the 66 318... the valve covers
are the same shape for the entire run, with the exception of the valve covers
having 3 bolts until mid '60, when they changed over to onlt 2 bolts. the
only other subtle change was in 62 when the actual timing cover was changed to
an aluminum housing instead of iron, common to the 273 LA motor.
the engine should be argent silver... with overspray on the coolant bypass
hose, as it was already in place when painted on the assembly line.
for some reason its somewhat accepted that 57-9 plymouth engines were
orange, blue, red, and even green.... after 34 of these cars in the
past 10 yrs... with 3 real survivors.... i've only had 3 with incorrectly
painted rebuilds....
