I currently work in a Chevrolet - Chrysler,Jeep,Dodge dealer and I can't
believe all of the bashing on American cars I see on here. I've worked on
Hondas,Toyotas,Nissans,Subaru's,Kias ,Suzuki's and the whole bunch of them are
bigger pieces of garbage than any of you can imagine. Keep up this way of
thinking and when our economy goes completely belly-up you can apply for
Japanese welfare. Vehicles only last as well as they are maintained. Remember
the Cadillac 4100 HT? I've known people with over 200,000 miles on probably the
worst engine GM ever put out. We have customers with Chrysler minivans with over
300,000 miles on them,a customer with a '93 Caprice with 334,000 miles.You know
how those cars got that many miles on them? Regular maintenance. How many people
who own Hondas tell you the car has 300,000 but omit the fact that it's on it's
third cylinder head? I hear it all the time.If Japanese cars are so good where
are all of the late 80's and early 90's ones? I still see older GMs,Fords and
Mopars,but I can't recall the last time I saw a 15-20 year old Japanese car. I
have as a daily driver a '97 Eldorado, around town I get low 20's,on the highway
30+ MPG,and with 300 HP this thing pulls like my big block Road Runner, handles
like you wouldn't believe, and rides better than anything Japan has ever
produced. And if you think new Mopars are boring, you haven't stomped on a new
Charger with a 5.7 in it.And I rarely here complaints about poor mileage on the
new cars Chrysler has put out, maybe the previous generation of trucks, but not
the new ones.
