Nah, Paul,  the SMS product is very-noticibly different, texture and
shineyness-wize; just, not  sufficiently-different enough so as to be
apparent, to the non-experienced eye. 

As it is the only game-in-town,  a 90% correctness (my opinion) is very
acceptable to me.

SMS's vinyl has the correct color and texture, but it is considerably
flimsier, than the OEM "Pellon" - ( nylon-mesh)  reinforced vinyl
material, too.

So, although overall, I am quite satisfied with SMS 's products, it is
not quite the same as the original materials.

Humm, having never seen an original (that I recall) and knowing a touch about some the work needed to achieve a finished product, could the difference you see be maybe attributed to the diff between fresh new dies and well used dies that might have been what was used on your original pieces??
