the closing line.... the serial number is unreadable.... impossible
since that's one of the few things that should be unflawed- an embossed
stainless steel plate in the drivers' door jamb....
although the possibility of the 2 spot welds affixing it could have
separated through oxidation, it is very uncommon.... as i've only had 1 car with
it gone and one come off quite easily- out of 45-55 57-59 plymouths,
4 dodges, 1 chrysler, and 2 desotos.
perhaps they thought it was a 70s gm car by accident [boyd's guys] and
looked along the dashboard for the vin#
